OMG Picnic at Andrew Haydon Park

Sunday, September 24, 2023

2-5 pm

Have you been wanting to come out to one of our events but haven't had the chance yet? Here it is! Join us for an OMG picnic at Andrew Haydon Park. Please bring your own food and drinks, along with a picnic blanket or chair. Those who wish to are welcome to bring a snack to share, anything goes! Lawn games and other fun items (did someone say bubbles?) are encouraged, but not required, as we will mostly be chilling, chatting and enjoying some time together in nature. This will be a very chill outing to say hello to some old faces and hopefully welcome some new ones. Hope to see you all there!

Note: This event is open to all OMG members (no family members or friends this time).

How to Get There:

This park is accessible via bike paths and OC Transpo. If driving, please enter from Carling Ave @ Holy Acres Road, then take a LEFT to drive up to the (West) parking lot. There is another parking lot (East) but it's a further walk to our meeting point.

Meeting Location:

We will gather in front of the large, white Bandshell between 2:00 and 2:30 p.m. We plan to then move over to our desired picnic spot around 2:30.

RSVP so we can look out for you, and please keep us posted in the comments here if your plans change or if you're arriving late (no problem!). We'll come and find you

A note about Covid-19: As we have some members in active treatment, we encourage you to please consider using personal protective measures (masks, distancing, vaccination) where possible.

TTPOC Launch

September 24, 2023

10 am - 2 pm

We are so excited to finally share all about this year's launch event with you. If you knew Sam personally, you know she loved a good party, and this will be no exception!

Our launch event is Sunday, September 24 from 10 AM to 2 PM at 134 Lake Avenue East in Carleton Place. The town has graciously allowed us to close off parts of the adjacent street - when we say this is our biggest launch yet, we are not kidding!

This year's event is LIBRARY THEMED! We want it to feel like you're at the least quiet, most fun library around, and get you inspired for your own snacks and cozy spaces on the big day! You can expect cozy book nooks, hammocks, and even two story times, at 11 AM and 1 PM, for the little ones. There will be amazing face painters as well, so kids of all ages are definitely not going to want to miss this!

We will also have merch available for purchase (including prints of @ohtruth’s amazing illustration of the library, featured here!) and just about every tasty treat imaginable - think pizza, cotton candy, Belgian waffles, ice cream, and donuts from some of your favourite local businesses!

Whether you've been with us every year since our start in 2019, or this is your first year hearing about us, we'd love for you to join us. There will be something fun for everyone, and we so enjoy meeting you guys in person! Nothing drives home Sam's incredible impact like being with our ever-growing, incredible community. Please bring your family; tell all your friends and loved ones. We want to make this our biggest launch yet and we can’t do it without you!

If you are able, we would love if you bring a favourite book for us to share in Samantha's Little Free Library.

We can't wait to see you!!
